Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I am now living in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Dear Lord Jesus,

When you died on that cursed tree, we were hung with you—every sin, from every person you took to the cross and was paid in full. There on the cross, you suffered the separation from the Father and then announced, “It was finished,” Our debt was paid in full, and we were given life through your death. It is through faith that we believe that you have paid the price for all our sins, no matter how bad they may seem to us. You have already forgiven all our iniquities; the payment was made in full. While our sinful flesh still wants to rear its ugly head and try to pull us away from you, we have confidence in your death. It is through your word you assure us of our win the fullness of life. We live by faith in you; we turn to you when we have fallen into sin’s temptation. You have reminded us of the love you had for us, in giving up your life to pay the price for our sins. Help us to live by faith in you. Amen.

Vicar Roger Emmons

Do not despair when you are tempted into sin. Turn back to the cross, laying your sins at Jesus’ feet; he already died for that sin as well.
