Job 19:25-27
As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and that at the end of time he will stand over the dust. Then, even after my skin has been destroyed, nevertheless, in my own flesh, I will see God. I myself will see him. My own eyes will see him, and not as a stranger. My emotions are in turmoil within me.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Please give us faith and confidence like Job, to know that our Redeemer lives. That on the last day, Jesus will stand over us and raise us all from the dead. Job spoke these words long before Jesus came to this earth, but he knew with surety that his Savior lives; give us also the same certainty. When our bodies are placed in the grave, they too will be destroyed, but inspired by the Holy Spirit, through Job’s words, you gave us the assurance that we will see you through our own eyes. We will know Jesus our Redeemer, and he will not be a stranger to us. Our sinful flesh and our emotions cause so many problems for us in this life, always trying to pull us from you. Lord, help us to always cling to you and not our emotions. We thank you for the forgiveness of sins Jesus won for us on the cross, so we have your promise that we will one day also see Jesus in our own flesh. This body will be raised up imperishable and immortal. Lord, keep and sustain our faith, so we never doubt your promises. Amen.
