1 Peter 2:24-25

He himself carried our sins in his body on the tree so that we would be dead to sins and alive to righteousness. By his wounds, you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but you are now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Dear Lord Jesus,

You know all the problems and challenges that we face; you know the sins we are plagued with each and every day. When you went to the cross, you took all our sins into you, and they were nailed to that cursed tree with you. On our own, our sins separate us from you, and we are by nature dead to you. But because of your wounds, we are healed from all our sins. This healing is not from inside us, but because of what you have done, and your precious blood has restored us and given us life. Because of your suffering and death, we are no longer dead in sin but alive through you. It is through faith you have made us right with the Father. We are restored to unity with you, our Good Shepherd. As we go through this life, we continue to wander like sheep. Help us hear your words so that we are called back when we start to stray; return us back to you. Amen.

Our sinful nature continues to make us wander, but Jesus has forgiven us and restores us back himself.
