Colossians 1:11-14
You are being strengthened with all power because of his glorious might working in you. Then you will have complete endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. The Father rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We give you thanks for all that you have done for us, for the way you have brought us out of sin’s darkness into your light. There is nothing good in us that prequalifies us to share in any part of your kingdom. As we look in the mirror, we see nothing but the vileness of our sins. Despite all our imperfections, you still chose us to give us your estate, so we live with you in your kingdom. Paul tells us you rescued us and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son. Jesus didn’t just turn us in another direction when he died on the cross, but he moved us, like taking us off one train (the hell-bound train) and put us on another train for heaven. How did Jesus do it? His death paid the penalty for all our sins, where he redeemed us and forgave us our sins. We receive this all by faith the Holy Spirit created and now sustains in us through your word. None of it is on us. We are strengthened by your word because of the Holy Spirit working in us. Thank you for loving us when we were unlovable. Amen.

Rejoice that God has given you an inheritance of the kingdom of heaven; this is a free gift given to you by faith. Just as you cannot earn an inheritance, you cannot earn God’s gift of life.
