John 15:26-27

 [Jesus said] When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father—he will testify about me. And you also are going to testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.”

 Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for sending us the Holy Spirit as our counselor and teacher. He created and daily continues to sustain our faith in you. Because we have been reborn of water and the Spirit, we know the truth and trust it. The Spirit comes in your name from the Father, and he has testified to us about you. Through the holy writers, he gave us the words of Scripture to read and meditate on your truths. From Genesis to Revelation, the entire Bible testifies about you and your work of salvation. Through the Old Testament, the promises were given that you would come to save us. The New Testament shows the fulfillment of those promises, giving us the details of how you came to be our brother living a perfectly holy life for our credit. Then you suffered for our sins and died an innocent death in our place. Please give us the courage today to be your witnesses and to testify about what you have done, paying the penalty of our sins and removing our guilt forever. We pray today that your Holy Spirit will continue to reside inside every one of us today, so we can continue to understand your truths. Amen.

Come Holy Ghost, Creator blest.

And make our hearts your place of rest;

Come with your grace and heavenly aid,

And fill the hears which you have made. (CW 178, vs. 1)
