Psalm 103:1-5
Bless the Lord, O my soul. All that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits—who pardons all your guilt, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with mercy and compassion, who satisfies your life with goodness, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We need to give you glory and honor for all you have done for us and all that you will do for us. Thank you for the reminder you have given us in this Psalm; we need this daily. You have forgiven us all our sins so that we will have the gift of heaven; once in heaven, this disease of sin will be cured with no more tears or pain or suffering. While we are here on earth, the sickness of sin fills every part of it and all its inhabitants. This disease is fatal, with a 100% death rate. It has the potential not only to kill the body but also to eternally destroy the soul. We bless you because you have sent us the vaccine, the blood of your son. In Jesus’ mercy and compassion, he willingly suffered on the cross for us, taking all our sins with him. We receive the cure as a gift through the Holy Spirit’s vaccination of the word and sacraments, and we get them through the needle of faith. However, without regular boosters of the means of grace, we can fall back into sin’s destruction. Please keep us always in your care; send your Spirit to be with us to sustain us with steady word and sacrament boosters. Lord, thank you for giving us your gracious goodwill. Amen.
