Psalm 5:11-12

But let all who take refuge in you be glad. Let them sing for joy forever. You cover them with protection, so those who love your name rejoice in you. Yes, you bless the righteous, Lord. You surround them with your favor as a shield.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We bring our praise and thanksgiving to you for all that you have done for us. We need to remember that those you consider righteous are not because of their actions but because of Jesus’ suffering, and his death has made them right with you. Nothing we do qualifies to be considered righteous; your Holy Spirit created even our faith in our Savior. So let us be glad that you protect us from dangers both seen and unseen by limiting the evil that comes after us. Around everyone who trusts in you, you have established a hedge. We live in a world filled with sin, sickness, and disease; these things come after us and want to destroy us. They may attack our bodies, but they cannot destroy our souls; you limit their advances. While the devil, world, and our flesh would have no greater joy than to destroy us and have us pursue the world’s temptations and everything that leads to our soul’s destruction. You protect the righteous from their advances. Please keep us always in your favor and strengthen us to love and honor your name continually. Because on our own, we are no match with everything that comes after us. We pray for your continued protection that we will continue to rejoice in you always. Amen.

We never see the majority of the dangers that lurk in the shadows, but thanks be to God who keeps them all at bay.
