Malachi 3:6

I, the Lord, do not change.

Dear Heavenly Father,

There is great comfort knowing that you do not change. Life’s tides seem to be changing daily; as we continue to grow older, the world appears to continue to devolve with its evil alterations. Each day social media and the news bring more stories and highlight the wicked swell of this sinful world; its degradation flourishes, creating more evilness. That should seem to be a shock, but in your word, you told us these things would happen, and like you, your message has not changed. However, no matter how evil this world around us may become, we still have the same hope and promise from you; we are forgiven. When we judge the world as being so horrendous, we must remember we are no better than them. Your word tells us how everyone has fallen short of your desires, which is perfection. Jesus said, “Be perfect as my Father in heaven is perfect.” This does not change. You also tell us when we fall short, “if you keep the entire law but stumble at one point, you are guilty of breaking all of it.” “The wages of sin is death!” Being unalterable, you have not altered your perfect requirements for us. Instead, you sent your Son, Jesus, out of love for us. He lived a perfect life in our place, then credited us with his perfection since you knew we could not attain it on our own. Then Jesus willingly went to the cross for the payment of our sins. He lived, and his sacrifice already paid almost 2000 years ago, and that will never change because your love is changeless as well. Lord, thank you for not changing, knowing we can always be sure of you. Amen
