Psalm 28:7-9
The Lord is my strength and my shield. In him, my heart trusts, and I am helped. My heart also celebrates. With my song, I will give thanks to him. The Lord is their strength. He is a stronghold of salvation for his anointed king. Save your people, and bless the people that belong to you. Shepherd them, and carry them forever.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Our strength comes from you, just as David has said in this Psalm. It is not only this world that daily comes at us, but also the evil we cannot see—all those flaming arrows from the evil one that you deflect from us. We would be utterly destroyed without your strength and shield around us. Lord, no matter how bad the world may seem, you always protect your people. Like David, we pray, save us, your people, do not forget about us in this wicked world; you are our shepherd; we pray today that you lead us where you would have us go, feed us with your word, and strengthen us; our hope rests in you. You paid a high price for our freedom to make us your heirs, so we should be confident in your love for us. Through your Son’s death, you made us your people. What a high price you paid for us? We thank and praise you for your unlimited love and mercy. Amen.

It is through faith in Jesus that we are God’s people, and more than his people, we are his children and heirs; we should never doubt the extent of his love and protection surrounding us.
