Psalm 25:4-5

Make known to me your ways, O Lord. Teach me your paths. Make me walk in your truth and teach me because you are the God who saves me. In you, I hope all day long.

Dear Heavenly Father,

You have given us your word to teach us how to love you and others. We will often neglect you and can be pretty bullheaded and stubborn, especially when it comes to others. We need an instruction manual on how to live with others because, on our own, our sinful nature wants whatever is best for us. This is why you have given us the Bible. When things come our way, that is not what we wanted or done how we would do it; we can get pretty grumpy. Make us walk in your ways no matter what it takes; we are your children and need to be disciplined. Discipline is never pleasant, but if that is what it takes to get us to love you and others, then teach us to love. There is nothing in us that causes us to be saved; we are by nature sinful, wretched beings, but Christ died for us; because of him, we are saved. Because of your Holy Spirit who created faith in us, we trust your Son’s work, and we love you and others as fruits of faith. We are saved because of you, and our hope is in you because you bring us our salvation. Amen

Pastor Roger Emmons

God shows us how we are saved; we cannot add to the instructions or take away from them. It is quite simple we are saved by Jesus being the object of our faith—his holy life and innocent death.
