Colossians 2:13-15

Even when you were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ by forgiving us all our trespasses. God erased the record of our debt brought against us by his legal demands. This record stood against us, but he took it away by nailing it to the cross. After disarming the rulers and authorities, he made a public display of them by triumphing over them in Christ.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Every part of our salvation, the forgiveness of sins, and trusting in you is your work; we can take no credit for any of it. You restored us to life because Jesus died for our sins, and he forgave us all our sins. Our part in salvation was creating a long list of sins that you erased. You demanded that we keep your commandments without error or blemish, and breaking your law should be punished with eternal death. All of us equally deserve eternal death; not one person can claim they are without sins. We all stand accused of what we have done; on our own, we can do nothing to reverse this judgment that stands against us. However, you sent your Son because he was the key to restoring us to your good favor, this he has already done. He lived the perfect life we could not live, and his perfection was credited to us. Then he took all our sins and nailed them to the cross; there, he defeated death and gave us life. We receive the forgiveness you have declared to us, along with eternal life and salvation through faith created by your Spirit. Today, through your word, please create faith in people who do not know you and strengthen the faith of those who do know you. Amen.
