Luke 12:32-34
[Jesus said] Do not be afraid, little flock, because your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the needy. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not become old, a treasure in the heavens that will not fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Dear Lord Jesus,
We are not to be afraid about any of our daily needs. Moreover, you tell us why? Because the Father who owns everything has already given us the kingdom of heaven. Because you went to the cross for us, you have removed the sins that separated us from him. We have been gifted his kingdom through faith, and we are heirs of eternal life and salvation. Therefore, we have nothing to fear; because you defeated sin along with death, that was our rightful wage. As Christians, you would rather us chase after your word, and all that strengthens our faith. We should not be afraid of blessing others with the earthly possessions we have been given. Our focus should not be on worldly wealth that is here one day and gone the next; instead, we should focus all our attention on our heavenly inheritance.
Lord, create in my heart that desire to chase after you and your word more than I chase after anything else. Send to me and all believers the opportunities to hear about the love you have for us. Through those opportunities, we sit at your feet as Mary did, storing up the treasures of heaven that will never be destroyed. Lord, grant me the hunger to always have my heart to be storing up treasures in heaven. Amen.

When the US currency wears out, it is sent to incinerators to be burned up and taken out of circulation. Why would we want to serve something that this is its final fate?
