2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and, in his grace, gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Through you and the Father, you have showered upon us your love. In that, when we were stuck in our sinful nature, dead in our trespasses and sins, we were undeserving of your love. Then you came to this earth, lived a perfect life, and died a holy death in our place. You showered upon us your undeserved love—grace. Through what you have done, you demonstrated your mercy upon us. The Holy Spirit started faith in our hearts through the Means of Grace; the Father sent him to us at your request. Out of love for you that we now go out to do the good works and words you had established for us to do, that is to share that gospel message with others. Lord, forgive me when I falter in my tasks today to share the good news. Thank you for the hope and promise of heaven, which is our eternal encouragement. Amen.

The hope of heaven does not come from cleaver myths of men but from God in his word. He has given us his word and in it the promise of heaven.
