Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Dear Lord Jesus,

These words from the writer to the Hebrews bring us so much comfort in an uncertain, changing world. Your love does not change. In this chaotic, sinful world we live in. It seems like leaders are in a power grab everywhere you turn to get whatever they can get. All that is happening around the globe is the result of mankind falling into sin after creation. The world and all its inhabitance have already been judged as sinful; Paul wrote in Romans, “There is no one who is righteous, not even one.” Later in Romans, he wrote of what our sins deserve, “the wages of sin is death.” This is the world’s lot. The recent news has witnessed the tragedy of death. We must realize that each of those people was given a time of grace to come to know you. If they did not know you, their judgment was sealed.

However, Paul did not stop there; he described your love for us, “but the undeserved gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Those who knew and trusted you in you received a victory to everlasting life. Because you did not leave us in that condemned condition. You demonstrated your love for us when we were the deplorables by giving up your throne in heaven to live and die for all. You showed the sufficiency of your mercy that it covers a multitude of sins. By your death, you brought us out of the depths of judgment and gave us life receiving your love through the hands of faith. This never changes. Lord, we still live in a chaotic, changing world where the tides of sin swirl around us. Thank you for never changing. Amen

In this world in which we live, Christ brought life, and we always receive it the same way through faith in him. Never worry if you have done enough. Jesus is always the same; his grace is always sufficient for you.
