1 Timothy 1:15-17

This saying is trustworthy and worthy of full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,” of whom I am the worst. But I was shown mercy for this reason: that in me, the worst sinner, Christ Jesus, might demonstrate his unlimited patience as an example for those who are going to believe in him, resulting in eternal life. Now to the King eternal, to the immortal, invisible, only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

Dear Lord Jesus,

You came into the world to save sinners, and only through you can anyone have eternal life. We are undeserving of any kindness or love you show to us, but you are patient with us, giving us this time of grace to know you and come to faith. On our own, each of our sins separates us from you. Looking at all the ways, we have sinned against you and others in our thoughts, words, and actions, this is our legacy of sin. We have to remember even our sinful thoughts condemn us. We have sinned against you and others; in all honesty, I say with Paul, “I am the worst of sinners.” This is why you came to remove all our sins, to remove my sins; I know I am undeserving of your mercy and love. This is where you need us to be, realizing we cannot reach heaven on our own because of our sins. You came, so whoever believes in you can have complete forgiveness of sins. Thank you for being patient with me every time I start to chase after the desires of my heart. When I do, please turn me back to your cross and see the forgiveness you have already bought and paid in full with your blood. All glory be to you because you have restored me and all believers back to you, despite all our sins. Please help us share this message with those who have not heard or do not believe, and send your Holy Spirit to change their hearts today. Amen.

Jesus’ purpose was to have all people come to the knowledge of truth and be saved. This is why he gave up his life for you.
