Hebrews 1:1-2

In the past, God spoke to our forefathers by the prophets at many times and in many ways. In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for giving us your word; it is not something to be taken lightly. You chose to record your history, instructions, and prayers with your people through the written message and still communicate today. The Bible is your written word. Through a book, your Spirit recorded the words of Moses, the prophets, apostles, and of Jesus. Your holy scripture tells us how we all have fallen short of your glory and the perfection you demanded of us. We deserve death for our sins. But your through Son—who was with you from eternity—you created the world. Then he came to this world to be a person like us but was without sin. You appointed him to redeem the world through his holy life and innocent death; in his death, he defeated death to give us life. Since Jesus is the appointed heir of all things, and he is our brother, we are adopted into your family through faith in Him. The sure hope of heaven and the promise of eternal life is ours because your Son has saved us. This is what you have recorded for us to read in your book. Eternal life is ours through Christ. Thank you for writing your words for us to read. Amen.

When the creator of the world has his writers record the way to salvation. What greater authority do you need? His word says you are forgiven; then you are forgiven, and salvation is yours.
