Luke 15:8-10

[Jesus said] “Or what woman who has ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, would not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found the lost coin.’ In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Dear Lord Jesus,

This parable paints an amazing picture for us; you use our love for money as an example of the determination we should use for someone who is lost or stumbling. When we know someone who walked away from you, it is so easy to say, “well, there goes another one.” But we should make every effort to reach out to that person and encourage them to come to or return to your word of truth. An unbeliever’s sins are deadly; this means they will spend the rest of their eternity suffering the unending pain and torment of hell, cut off from you. It is understandable why the angels rejoice for one person who comes to faith or returns to you to repent of their sins. Lord, please give us opportunities to share the good news of your love for the world and our hope of heaven with others. Let us share how you have forgiven the world’s sins. So when we do, there may be a tremendous sound of angelic rejoicing in heaven. Amen
