Psalm 146:3-6

Do not trust in human helpers, in a mortal man who cannot save you.  His spirit departs. He returns to the ground he came from. On that day, his plans have perished. Blessed is everyone who has the God of Jacob as his help. His hope is in the Lord his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything which is in them. He is the one who stays faithful forever.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Today, we pray that you remain close to us to sustain us in our walk through life’s wilderness. People come and go; they are not all that dependable. Some do what they say, while others are hit or miss; they are mortals just like we are. Ultimately for people, we chase after the desires of our hearts, and we are all sinful beings. Because of sin, one day, we will all have our end, and we too will sleep in the grave. But you walk along this journey with us; as we stumble, you lift us up, and when we are hungry, you feed us. Because of our sin, you sent your Son to be our Savior. He has removed our sins forever, and through faith in him, we have the hope of eternal life, and although this body will sleep, our souls will remain with you. Please send us your Spirit that we will remain faithful to you forever and lean on you for all that we need. You are our God who created, protects and saves us. Thank you for all that you do for us and the ways you help and sustain us. Amen.
