2 Samuel 7:22
Therefore, you are great, Lord God, because there is none like you. There is no God except you, in keeping with everything we have heard with our ears.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all that you do for us, the way you sustain us and all people. The world has some idea there is something greater than themselves out there, but they do not know you. The guilt of sin weighs everyone down; the world may try as it might with all their faith systems to appease their god; however, in the end, they are still under sin’s judgment with death as its result.
As David said, “There is none like you.” When David wanted to build you a house, you said, “No!” Instead, you made him into a house through which you would bring salvation. You used David’s evil and wicked lineage (his ancestors did have some good kings, but they were few) to establish a line through which Jesus would come. But this was your plan; to use what was sinful and corrupt to bring your perfect Son into the world to be our Savior.
There is no God except you. You took what was broken by sin’s depravity and healed it with what was perfect—Jesus. He took into himself all the world’s iniquities. No man could come up with such an ingenious plan that would be just, merciful, gracious, and loving all at the same time. However, you did! Lord, we thank you that despite our sin, you provided for us a way out through Jesus, David’s greater son. He took all our sins into himself and gave us his righteousness. That through faith, we receive your undeserved love, entirely apart from anything we have ever done—all these words you give us to hear over and over in your word. Lord, thank you for loving us this way. You have done and continue to do everything for us. Thank you! Amen.
