1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, the people who are God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Dear Lord Jesus,

You have called us as your people; we are your chosen people through faith created in us by the Holy Spirit. Set apart from the rest of the world that does not believe in you. Peter calls us a royal priesthood; we share your word with others. Each of us is given our own gifts how we share the promise of salvation that comes through the forgiveness of sins with others. Your holy nation of believers is scattered all around the globe. However, we are all united by faith in you as one holy nation. Once, we were no different than those of the world, stumbling in sin’s darkness. We were on the highway that leads straight to hell, but you have taken us from that road and placed us on the path which leads to heaven. We have your marvelous light that is leading the way for us. Lord, when we stumble along the way, you pick us up; when life becomes challenging, you carry us. You told us this road would not be an easy trip; people would hate us and persecute us along the way, just as they hated you. While this life and path will be difficult. We have the promise of eternal life and salvation because of your holy life and innocent death; you forgave all our sins and removed our guilt. Please strengthen us, your chosen people, to share the truth of your love with those that hate us. That they too may be pulled out of the darkness of eternal death into your marvelous light of life. Amen

We have been called, enlightened, and sanctified not because of anything we have done but all purely out of God’s grace, love, and mercy, and God desires this is for all.
