2 Peter 1:19-21
We also have the completely reliable prophetic word. You do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts, since we know this above all else: No prophecy of Scripture comes about from someone’s own interpretation. In fact, no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were being carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for giving us your word, in which we have complete confidence. Today so many want to push against what you have given us and say, “it was only written by men.” Then they take and leave what they want, destroying your message. Lord, help them to overcome their unbelief. Then I pray that you would strengthen us by your word. Through the Holy Spirit, Peter reminds us that it was indeed the work of men but carried by your Spirit. It is like a lamp shining for us in the darkness, no matter what language we speak; it is like a lamp for all, written in hundreds of languages. It is that lamp that overcomes the shadow of our sins, along with the guilt and shame. You give us the light of the world, Jesus. He is our hope and promise; through his blood, our sins were washed away, and we now have the hope of heaven, and only you could give that to us. Lord, in your word, you recorded the gory details of your Son who hung on that cross suspended between earth and heaven for our sins. Even the best of earthly writers could have never come up with such a plan to save fallen man as you have done for us. Thank you for saving us from the punishment we deserved and delivering us over to life so that we will live with you in heaven. Amen.

God’s word is timeless, accurate, and by God himself, it was inspired. Telling us: those who believe will be saved, those who do not will be damned.
