Jeremiah 23:5-6

Listen, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, who will reign wisely as king and establish justice and righteousness on earth. In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. This is his name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for keeping your word and raising your Son for us, who is the KING of Kings. Jesus came to this earth to be our Savior. You have given him all authority over heaven and earth, establishing his justice and righteousness forever. Jesus knows all who believe in him, and through faith, delivers us from the sins that should have bound us to hell. When a person is covered in Jesus’ righteousness, there is only innocents and perfection in that person. His justice reigns when he has to declare an eternal punishment on those who do not believe in him. Faith comes to us through the Holy Spirit through your word and sacraments. Brought to us in baptism and strengthened in the Holy Supper. This gift of faith is the most inclusive gift given to all who do not reject it. Jeremiah writes this is for Judah and Israel. Believers have been adopted into the family, becoming heirs to eternal life. This gift you brought to us through that righteous branch, Jesus, and delivered by faith. He is the Lord our Righteous. Father, thank you for sending us your Son, who is, was, and always will be that righteous branch for our salvation. Amen.

When God says to listen up, it might be something important. When He tells you a king will come, that will save you from your sins, that is very important.
