Isaiah 35:3-4

Strengthen the weak hands, and make the shaky knees steady. Tell those who have a fearful heart: Be strong. Do not be afraid. Look! Your God will come with vengeance. With God’s own retribution, he will come and save you.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the forgiveness that only comes through your Son. We look at the mountain of sins we have accomplished, which seems overwhelming. Because of the sins in our lives, we feel guilty. We know we deserve your vengeance. Realizing our sins makes it hard to fold our hands and bend our knees. “How do I this miserable sinner deserve any forgiveness for the things that I have done?” The reality is we don’t deserve it, and these sins can seem like there is no way out. But you tell us—do not be afraid! These words are for every person who feels so burdened down by the things they have done. However, because Jesus, your sinless, eternal Son, who gave up his life on the cross, paying the infinite price for the punishment for all our sins. He paid our ransom price in full not one sin of the world was left off the table. Through your eternal Son’s innocent death, he defeated death for us. And we do not have to fear what is about to happen on judgment day. You will come with a vengeance and destroy all who do not believe in you; your justice will be swift. But for those who believe in Christ and what he has done, we will have life. Jesus will save us. Thank you for forgiving us of all our sins and giving us the faith to believe it. Amen.

Trusting in Jesus, we have nothing to fear. Come to Him in repentance and receive the assurance all your sins are forgiven. Then cling to him and his word, so on the last day, you will have nothing to fear.
