Luke 1:46-55

Then Mary said, “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior, because he has looked with favor on the humble state of his servant. Surely, from now on, all generations will call me blessed, because the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones. He has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, but the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the aid of his servant Israel, remembering his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspring forever.”

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your servant Mary displayed tremendous amounts of faith. When you sent your angel to her, she was all in for the mission you had prepared for her. She shows such magnificent trust in you, knowing somehow you would use her to bring forth her the world’s Savior, and by faith, she knew she was carrying your Son. It seems she understood the magnitude of what she was about to do and held on to your promise of keeping her safe. She was to bring the world’s redeemer into the world. He came in the humblest of estates, a manger, to save this world. Lord, forgive us when we are sidetracked, and our attention focuses on anything other than the forgiveness of sins Jesus won for us on the cross. Mary knew that you would see her through all that she had to endure. When we walk by faith, we realize that you are there to care for us, for me. Strengthen my faith with your Holy Spirit so that it will be vibrant. Knowing this gift you brought to us through Mary was not just for the rest of the world but also for me. Strengthen me through your word that I know Mary’s child, your Son. May I remember and hold onto this: that he went to the cross suffered and died there for the world’s sins, including my sins. You promised to send him to Abraham and Israel, and you did that through Mary. Your Son, and Mary’s son, is both true God and true man in the flesh. You sent to save us all. Amen.
