Psalm 146:8-9
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down. The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the aliens. The fatherless and the widow he sustains, but he turns aside the way of the wicked.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for opening and restoring our eyes when we were caught in sin’s blindness. Before you came into our lives, we were trapped in our unbelief with no way out. But you came to this earth as a baby to become like us. Throughout your life, you lived it perfectly for us. You kept all the laws of your Father, then gave us credit, to make us righteous before Him. However, we still had that load of sin over us, so you went to the cross and suffered our punishment, that we would be declared not guilty. For us, you gave up your life so that you would destroy death. And if that were not enough, you sent to us your Holy Spirit to create faith in us to believe.
We are the aliens in the wilderness, wandering this earth; you watch over and protect. We are the fatherless and widows you preserve and keep. You have prepared rooms for us in heaven. Through faith, you have made us members of your Heavenly Church, and you are the church’s groom, and your Father is our Father.
We pray that you will turn away the wicked; they may seem like they are gaining some upper hand on earth, but you have promised to turn them away. So please protect those who trust in you. For those suffering at the hand of evil’s tyranny, we ask for your hand of protection over them and sustain them as only you can. We pray for your Holy Spirit to reach those oppressed so they, too, will know you. Amen.
