Psalm 90:1-2
Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, you are God.
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we start a New Year, this verse reminds us we are at a specific point in time, which each of us lives in now. What has happened in the past is no longer ours to worry about, and what will happen in ten minutes is not ours to fret over. You are our dwelling place, and everything else is insignificant. We dwell with you through faith in our Savior, Jesus, because he died on the cross for all our sins. Nothing else matters. Time will continue to tick as we proceed into the new year, and before you know it, far too soon, we will also say goodbye to this year. When we rest securely in you, you are our God outside of time and space; before the mountains and earth were formed, you were already there; and you were there for each of those new years, past lifetimes, and moments. All of them have passed by until we have come to this point in time, this moment. And you will continue into the moments that are ahead of us as we dwell securely with you in your love. Lord, please give me many opportunities to live in the moment and share the good news about my Savior with someone new. Let me live in each moment you give me, realizing that I am your child, forgiven by Christ, and restored to you in faith by the Holy Spirit. Why? Because you are our God from the eternity that came before this moment. And you will be our God for every moment that continues until our time comes to an end and we are in heaven with you. Amen.
