Malachi 3:6
“Certainly I, the Lord, do not change.”
Dear Heavenly Father,
This verse of Malachi is such a wonderful reminder for us. You are our loving Father establishing your plan of salvation for fallen mankind from the beginning of the world. You have not changed the rules but made it perfectly clear what you will was for us in your word: we were to love you above all other things and love those around us as we love ourselves. Your will for us was to be perfect as you are perfect. Looking in the mirror, we see how miserably we fail every day.
However, you did not leave us in this state that we would suffer through this life only to die separated from you. No, you sent your Son that his innocent death on the cross would be our substitute. He would live that life of perfection and give us credit, and his death for our sins does not change either. He paid over the full price for our sins, and he rose from the grave, so we know you have accepted his payment for our debt.
Lord, because you do not change, Jesus’ life and death still cover all our sins. Because you do not change salvation is ours through faith in what Jesus has done, there still is nothing from us that causes us to be worthy of being forgiven. Because you do not change, the promise of eternal life is ours through faith started in us by your Spirit. Lord, thank you for never changing. Amen

In this changing landscape of the world, it is good that our God never changes. No matter how bad your sins, Jesus’ blood still covers them, and that doesn’t change.
