Romans 10:14-17
So then, how can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one about whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news of peace, who preach the gospel of good things!” But not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who believed our message?” So then, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through the word of Christ.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Send out your preachers into the world that all may hear the good news of your forgiveness. Those who do not know you need to receive the good news of what you have done for them. The words of forgiveness are the words of peace because, without you, we are stuck in our trespasses and sins. There is no hope and no peace. Everyone knows they are somehow accountable for what they have done but do not know how to overcome their guilt. They try many different things self-help, comparing themselves to others, or blaming everyone else for their problems. Sin is the source of all this unrest the world faces. When we look inside ourselves, we see all that the world has to offer us, and it’s not good; it is all the lies, deceit, and blame. But, when we look to you, we find the peace you brought by forgiving all our sins. We cannot fix the world, but you have; you died for every sin, the payment was made that brought peace into the world. Peace comes only through you and is brought to the people through your word. But while it is there, not everyone believes that message; give us who believe this good news the courage to share this message with others. Deliver to them the peace that comes from you through the faith that comes from the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Jesus, for allowing us to hear your word and be part of your holy family. Amen
