1 Timothy 6:20-21

O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, turning away from godless, empty talk and the contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge.” By professing it, some have veered away from the faith. Grace, be with you. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please send your Holy Spirit to guard our faith from the world’s wisdom. You had Paul give Timothy a warning: to beware of the world’s empty talk and so-called knowledge. What a shame seeing those who once walked in faith but now hold the hollow words of the world calling themselves enlightened. Lord, it seems that in their wisdom, the world likes labels. If there is a difference in values, they place a brand on it. Do they think this comparison will undo their sins if they consider themselves better? Lord, only you know their thoughts.

We positively know what your word tells us; it tells us our sins separate us from you, and there is no longer anything good in man. We are all corrupted by our sins, and after the fall into sin, there is nothing good in us. So world, here is our label before Christ came; we are all condemned sinners.

Father, you did not just leave us in that state, you sent your Son to die for all our sins, and while we deserve to be separated from you forever in hell, Christ took all those sins from us to the cross. He suffered in our place and gave us his righteousness. You loved us so much that you sent your Son to take on all our sins, forgiving every one of our sins. Jesus has declared us not guilty because he died for the entire world. So all our righteousness comes from Jesus. We have been restored back to you, and the promise of heaven is once again ours. Are we privileged? You call us blessed because of your love, but your love is all-inclusive to all people, no matter who they are or where they come from. It comes to all through the faith your Holy Spirit begins in us. So another label you give us is elect. Lord, thank you for giving us the truth of your word and true wisdom. Amen.
