Therefore, since we have now been justified by his blood, it is even more certain that we will be saved from God’s wrath through him. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, it is even more certain that, since we have been reconciled, we will be saved by his life. And not only is this so, but we also go on rejoicing confidently in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received this reconciliation.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your plan of salvation and for not giving us up. What a lawless world this would be? If all we had to look forward to at the end of this life was suffering the eternal punishment. Is this why the world seems lawless because they have no hope? However, for believers, because you sent your Son into this world, we are saved; Jesus justified us by his blood. When we look at ourselves, we have to admit there is nothing good in us. But, Jesus declared us not guilty of all our sins only because of his perfect life and holy death. Paul reminds us; you did this for us while all the world was still your enemies. Through your plan of salvation, Jesus credited us with his perfect life, so you see us through Jesus’ perfection. Then Jesus willingly went to the cross to suffer the punishment for every sin. His death defeated sin and death on the cross, and he has declared us not guilty of our sins, so we are restored to your good favor for Jesus’ sake. These gifts are delivered to us by the Holy Spirit; through the means of grace, he creates faith which is the open hand that grasps these gifts. Amen.
