John 6:66-69

After this, many of his disciples turned back and were not walking with him anymore. So Jesus asked the Twelve, “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom will we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”

Dear Lord Jesus,

When your teaching became hard to hear, many returned to their homes. Your words seemed to contradict their logic. We must remember that there will be times when those sitting next to us in our churches will reject your words and leave. Give us hearts of faith to be like the 12, knowing there is no place we would rather be than hearing you because you have the words of eternal life. Through your holy Scripture, you brought us the truth. You told us how we are dead in our sins, and you are our only hope; through your death on the cross, you removed our sins forever and delivered eternal life to us. Like the 12, we have come to believe and know you are the Holy One of God. You sent us your Spirit so that we would believe in you and your promise for us. Lord, like the disciples, we have no one else to go to either; you are the way, the truth, and the life. Lord, be with us and strengthen our faith that we always hold on to you. Amen.
