Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of a herald, who proclaims peace and preaches good news, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God is king!”
Dear Heavenly Father,
Feet are not usually considered beautiful, but they are pretty amazing. They are the body’s workhorses; we put socks on them to make them feel better about being stuffed shoes to be stood on all day and moving us from one place to another. They endure a lot of abuse but are never usually something we would admire. But they are pretty remarkable when they belong to the one who brings the message of your peace, good news, and salvation to us. The beauty of the message is so impressive that even those feet that carry the messenger along deserve recognition.
We thank you for this message—Jesus is our king. In our sinfulness, we deserve only your wrath and punishment. However, Jesus suffered that punishment in our place; he suffered the separation from you that we should face, and he endured your wrath for our sins. That first Easter morning, that empty tomb means you have accepted his punishment for our sins. The great news is this, instead of getting what we deserve, you have forgiven all our sins for Jesus’ sake; we have the peace of forgiveness. We have also been made heirs of your kingdom and eternal life. It is magnificent news that we no longer have to fear you but live in your kingdom, in your grace. Jesus is our king who has defeated our enemies—death, sin, and the devil. Allow us to herald this news to those who have not heard this glorious message and be with us as we climb their mountains unbelief to share this good news with them, “Your God is king!” Amen.

What a beautiful message of peace, hope, and joy that it even makes feet look beautiful.
