Deuteronomy 7:9

He did this so that you would know that the Lord your God, yes, he is God, the faithful God who maintains both his covenant and his mercy for those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Moses spoke these words to your chosen people as they were in the wilderness when you brought them out of the bondage they faced in Egypt. Lord, you have also taken us out of sin’s bondage, that in doing this, we know you are our Lord God. You promised to send us a Savior who would rescue us, and that is what you have done through Jesus. In your mercy, you have forgiven us all our sins for Jesus’ sake. Because he came to this earth, living a life without sin, but became sin for us on the cross, he took all our sins into himself. Then he died on that cross for us, not giving us what we deserve—death—but giving us hope, salvation, and eternal life. We fall short at keeping your commandments, but Jesus has kept them perfectly in our place; he has credited us with his perfection. His gifts of salvation and eternal life are delivered to us through faith. Lord, we thank you for blessing us with your love and mercy. Grant us your grace to share this good news with those in the generations around us that they will also know of Jesus’ forgiveness and salvation. Amen.
