Psalm 56:3-4
On the day when I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, I praise his word. In God, I trust. I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for giving us these words to comfort us when challenges come our way—money, health, government, or life in general. Those things come along that are beyond making us afraid—they terrify us. We turn to you in those moments of darkness and realize that we still have the promise of eternal life. It is ours because you gave it to us. Because we trust you, knowing that Jesus died for all our sins, we no longer have to worry over the end of our lives. Our bodies will wear out like our clothes one day, but your love and mercy never will. You demonstrated your love for us by sending Jesus to suffer for our sins; he endured our intended punishment. So we give you thanks for delivering forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life to us. While the world, devil, and even our flesh work against us, you give life to all who believe. Therefore, we ask, “What will flesh do to me?” Thank you for sending us your Son to redeem us and sending your Holy Spirit to begin the faith to trust what Jesus has done. Please soothe our fears and comfort our tears because you are our God. Amen.

Many are afraid and don’t know God’s love for them; share this good news with them. But, because God loves you and loves them, what can they do to you?
