Psalm 5:11-12

But let all who take refuge in you be glad. Let them sing for joy forever. You cover them with protection, so those who love your name rejoice in you. Yes, you bless the righteous, Lord. You surround them with your favor as a shield.

Dear Lord Jesus,

It has to be no surprise to you; we live in a crazy world. Listening to the nightly news, it seems the world has come unhinged, and we need someplace to take cover. Lord, it is easy to look at the rest of the world and call it evil and crazy; while we look past ourselves. However, when we look in the mirror, there are all the troubles and sins in our lives. So, thank you for providing a refuge where we can go, and that is you—you are our refuge. You have given us the forgiveness of all our sins and salvation’s promise. You are our shelter, where we can place all our sin, guilt, shame, and anxieties at your feet, and you have taken them away. You shield us from the world, limiting what would want to destroy us. Moreover, you restored us to the Father through your holy life and innocent death; we have been made right with Him. Your resurrection is the proof he has accepted your payment for our sins. We are blessed because all you have done for us is out of your love, and nothing on our part was deserving of the grace you have given to us. May we sing your praises to others who are inundated by the world’s troubles and still do not know you. Let your love for us be why we sing your praises and share your good news—we are forgiven, and you have given us refuge. Amen.
