1 Timothy 2:1-2

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all those who are in authority, in order that we might live a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and dignity.

Dear Heavenly Father,

You have ordained government and rulers to provide the rule of law to protect your people. Laws are written and intended to sustain order curbing those who would otherwise be lawless. We pray for all the world’s people that they have peace through their government and that your word will reach the ends of the earth; as a result, all people will know you. Through your word, they will gain opportunities to hear and believe Jesus’ gift of forgiveness.

Lord, we pray that you would sustain all godly leaders; while bending the spirit of godless rulers to do your will, so all leaders will equitably administer your laws. Give legislatures wisdom to enact laws that protect all citizens. We pray for just courts who will properly execute their office to release those unjustly charged and properly administer punishment, not allowing lawlessness to go unpunished. Please be with all law enforcement officers, our military, and all first responders as they serve and protect us against our enemies. We give thanks and ask you to bless them for the daily sacrifices they undergo to make our nation and local communities safe. Grant them an extra measure of wisdom to solve crimes and not allow the guilty to go unpunished, thereby providing opportunities for criminals to repent and be forgiven.

Lord, we pray for restoration and unity for all, that we can live at peace and grant everyone opportunities to worship you. And if we, your people, should live in oppressed societies, allow the good news of Christ’s death and resurrection to thrive even more. Amen.

God ordained government to protect believers so his word would spread. Remember when Jesus was crucified, it seemed like evil had won, but he rose from the dead—bringing the complete destruction of Satan and death. Trust God; he’s got this.
