James 1:17

Every good act of giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the lights, who does not change or shift like a shadow.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for giving us all that we need. Everything we have and need is a gift from you. Forgive us when we complain that it is not enough or the right thing because it always ends up being what we need. Especially when we considered our sins, there was no way we would overcome them. We were trapped in their darkness; there was no way out on our own. Trapped in our sin was our greatest need; we should have been condemned to hell because of sin, but you sent your Son—the light of the world to bring us out of sin’s darkness. You, the Father of the lights—the one who created light—sent your Son as part of your salvational plan to restore us to you. Thank you for saving us and restoring us.

James wrote that you do not shift or change like a shadow. I imagine this like a shadow cast from a fire that dances about in unison with the flame. You are unmovable! Your love for us does not change. We trust the forgiveness Jesus has won for us, and this gift is delivered to us through the Holy Spirit, who began our faith. Please strengthen our faith in you so it will not shift or dance as the world comes at us. So through faith, we will share this good news about our forgiveness with someone new. Help us stand firm in our faith as your love for us is unchanging. Amen.

If God has given you everything, that means it was all his. So, what would make you think tomorrow he will stop providing for you? If God loved you yesterday and today, then he won’t stop just because it has become tomorrow!
