Colossians 1:11-14

You are being strengthened with all power because of his glorious might working in you. Then you will have complete endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. The Father rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Through your Holy Spirit, we are being strengthened with all the power. So thank you for saving us; we are saved entirely by your love and mercy. Your plan of salvation restored us to you; every bit of it was your grace. We have been qualified—justified—as Paul wrote in these Colossian verses through your Son. Meaning it was Jesus’ holy life and innocent death that we have been made righteous. Our sins separated us from you, and we keep on sinning. Sin came into the world by one man’s sins, and we live in sin’s darkness without Jesus’ forgiveness. But Jesus came here as true man and God to live his life perfectly in our place. He suffered at the hands of men for our sins, then was put to death to defeat death. This plan was your rescue plan for us. Through faith, we believe and trust what Jesus has done to save us, making us heirs of heaven, and walk once again in the kingdom of light. Your Holy Spirit started faith in us through your word and sacraments, and only through him do we stop rejecting your good gifts. Lord, thank you for your plan of salvation and our restoration to you. Thank you for sending Jesus to redeem us from all our sins, and only there do we have forgiveness. Amen.

All the world’s problems are because of sin. If they reject God, they reject his forgiveness; the only way it is overcome. Christ has died, He has risen, and He will come again. So by faith, receive Jesus’ good and gracious gift.
