John 15:26-27

[Jesus said] “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father—he will testify about me. And you also are going to testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.”

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for sending the Spirit of truth so that faith would begin in us. It is that Counselor who guides us in our walk of faith. Lord, you came to this world to rescue us from all our sins; your death on the cross saved us. You won our freedom. You did the work to redeem the world from all its sins, and these gifts—repentance and forgiveness—are here for everyone. Faith begins in us through the Holy Spirit’s work; we believe that you have declared us not guilty of all our sins, and we are set apart as children and heirs of your kingdom. Faith stops rejecting the good news of salvation that your Spirit delivered to us. Only through faith in you and your work are our sins removed, and we are restored. The Holy Spirit inspired the holy writers of the Bible to testify about your salvational plan; we pray that you would strengthen our faith through your word and sacraments. Please forgive us all our sins according to your love and mercy. Allow us opportunities to share this good news of forgiveness with those who do not yet know you so that they, too, will repent of their sins, believe, and have salvation. Amen.
