Psalm 5:11-12
But let all who take refuge in you be glad. Let them sing for joy forever. You cover them with protection, so those who love your name rejoice in you. Yes, you bless the righteous, Lord. You surround them with your favor as a shield.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for giving us your protection; to be a mighty fortress around us. This protection is for all, but it is delivered to believers by faith in our Savior who died and brought us salvation; let us sing your praises.
We are regularly assaulted, tempted, and tested by the devil, the world, and even our flesh; we have no protection without you. You know our every need and established your plan of salvation to protect us from everything that would attack us. You sent your Son to suffer, die, and deliver us from all our sins. This gift of Jesus’ forgiveness is given to us by faith, and it is there we have this fortress; we are covered in your protection. By faith in Jesus, our sins are forgiven, and we are restored to you—made righteous. Therefore, as David wrote, you surround those who believe and are restored to you with your favor. By faith, the forgiveness of sins is delivered to us, bringing salvation and eternal life. Lord, you make sure we are protected, that nothing can pull us from your hand. Thank you for being our refuge. We pray that you will afford us opportunities to share the good news of your refuge—Jesus’ forgiveness—with someone who does not know you. As we share your word, we ask that the Holy Spirit would use that to plant a seed of faith in them. Amen.
