Numbers 6:24-26

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look on you with favor and give you peace.

Dear LORD,

You told Moses and Aaron through this blessing, you put your name upon your people, which means they belong to your family. Forgive us when we take this blessing for granted or miss hearing this good news delivered to us in your word. You remind us how you sustain and keep us providing all that we need for our lives: food, water, clothes, shoes, homes, and families. You also maintain and bless our faith. Our souls are renewed because Jesus came to the earth; he suffered and died on the cross for our sins. By your love and mercy, Jesus, the light of the world, shines upon us, removing the darkness of our sins. We were deserving of your punishment, but through Jesus’ work on the cross, we have been restored to you. Because of your love, you have removed our sins and now look at us with favor. Lord, through the Holy Spirit, faith comes to us by the means of word and sacraments. Through faith, we believe and trust Jesus’ work of salvation. It is in faith the gift of forgiveness is delivered to us. Because we have forgiveness, we also have true peace, not as the world gives but as only you can provide us. Through this peace, we know eternal life is ours, and we are part of your family, heirs to eternal life. Thank you for placing your name on us that we are part of your family. Let us recognize the opportunities you have given us to share the good news of your family name with those who still do not know you. So through faith, they, too, will have your blessing blessed upon them. Amen.
