2 Peter 1:19-21
We also have the completely reliable prophetic word. You do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts, since we know this above all else: No prophecy of Scripture comes about from someone’s own interpretation. In fact, no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were being carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for giving us this reminder about your word. As Peter wrote, we would do well to pay attention to it. Lord, without you, there is no forgiveness; without faith, there is no hope in this life. One might hope tomorrow will be a better day than today, but what would we do with the guilt for those things we have done wrong? They just stay with us. As Peter wrote being in darkness and he wrote you would do well to pay attention (almost like we need a drum roll here.) You have brought us salvation that comes from the complete, entire, free forgiveness of our sins through Jesus’ death on the cross.
Moreover, like a dawning of a new day as the sun begins to rise, so does a person’s faith, realizing you have forgiven me all for Jesus’ sake. Jesus removed all my guilt (yes, all of it) and took all my sins into himself. (The light is shining brighter.) For everything I have said, done, and thought Jesus has forgiven, no sin was left, including my sins, tomorrow. (The sun is starting to penetrate the horizon.) So your word tells us how Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to work our sanctified life—create faith in us to set us apart for you. He used your word to begin faith in me so that I can receive the gift of Jesus’ forgiveness. (The sun is about to crest.) There, in forgiveness, I have salvation and eternal life. (The sun is up.) I am a full heir to your kingdom of heaven all because of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
There is no way any person could ever come up with this plan of salvation on their own. Lord, we thank you that you have given to us (to me) the plan of salvation. All of it is dependent upon you. So we pray today for the courage to share this message of salvation with someone who does not know you, so the light of salvation will dawn in their life also. Amen.

When you read the Bible, realize this is God’s plan of salvation for the world and, more importantly, His plan of your salvation. Christ died and rose, so you have forgiveness for every sin and everlasting life.
