Psalm 78:1-4

Give ear, O my people, to my instruction. Turn your ear to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth to share a lesson. I will speak about puzzling problems from long ago, things we have heard and known, things our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their descendants. We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders that he has done.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for giving us your instruction through your Word. Through your prophets and apostles, you have given us your plan of salvation. Sin was a puzzling problem for us; there was no way we could save ourselves. We were divided from you through our sinful nature, and condemnation was our only end. You promised a Savior would come through the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You sent us Jesus to be the final sacrifice for all our sins; on the cross, Jesus suffered for every one of our sins. As Isaiah wrote, by his wounds, we are healed. It was in Jesus’ sacrifice that we are forgiven for everything we have done. We pray with the Psalmist that we will not hide this from our descendants. Shame on us when we are unwilling to share this good news of salvation with others. Your Holy Spirit has given us the faith to believe; through faith, we are also willing to share that good news with others. Lord, we pray that you will feed us through your word, so we are unashamed and unafraid to share the good news of salvation with all people we come across today. We thank you for giving us your plan of salvation in your word and sending us your Son as our Savior. Amen

Your salvation is dependent upon God and his word; it might be good for you to take heed, listen, and believe. God has forgiven you all your sins for Jesus’ sake.
