Hebrews 11:3

By faith, we know that the universe was created by God’s word so that what is seen did not come from visible things.

Dear Heavenly Father,

These words from the writer of Hebrews are awe-inspiring. First off, the way that we know about your created work is because of faith. Lord, give us patience dealing with unbelievers who live in the make-believe world of evolution. You not only made us, but you created the universe. I hear these words, and immediately my thoughts turn to both John and Moses. John wrote: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him, everything was made.” Then Moses, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” These verses are incredible. Jesus was there from eternity, the spoken word that created the universe. Then, he came to the earth as a carpenter’s son, this grand designer, with you and the Holy Spirit. You created us.

Yet you veil creation to the world; it is a stumbling block to unbelievers, but it is unveiled to believers through faith, and this is a treasure of wisdom and understanding you give to all who believe in you. You created all we see; your power established the universe from nothing. Then in your divine wisdom, you enabled this world so that everything reproduces.

However, more remarkable is Jesus coming to this world to become that carpenter’s and Mary’s son because we were lost in our sins. We were doomed to eternal death because of the evil within us. He paid the punishment of our sins by dying on the cross for us. Why would you choose to redeem us? We who were by our sinful natures your enemy is also quite incredible, which demonstrates the limitlessness of your love for us—then sending your Spirit to us to create the faith. We needed our faith to trust Jesus, to restore us to you, and to lift the veil of unbelief. You revealed yourself to us in your word. Lord, you are an amazing God, and who can stand before you? Thank you for giving us a glimpse of your power, wisdom, and love. If it should be your will? Have your Spirit work through me to tell others about what is behind the veil—an awesome God! Amen.

We cannot fathom the depths of God’s love for us. Pray that God makes an opportunity for you to share his truth with others, and the Spirit would lift the veil for someone else so they, too, can see his mighty deeds.
