Proverbs 16:9
A person’s heart plans his way, but the Lord makes his steps secure.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Lord, for giving us the latitude to make our own decisions and plan our way. We are not pawns on a chess board that you move to the next square; however, you give each person the freedom to carve out the path they want to take. And while you know what the future holds for each of us, you allow happening what will happen. Sometimes we make poor choices, the results are painful, and you allow the cards to fall where they may. But we have your promise to limit what comes our way, and you secure our steps to ensure our salvation.
Lord, because our sins condemned us to suffer for the rest of eternity, you sent your Son to suffer upon the cross for our sins so that we would have eternal life. So he paid the penalty that was due us—death. Jesus rose from the dead, so we will have confidence and security knowing Jesus will also resurrect our bodies. Through faith, the Holy Spirit began in us we have the assurance that our sins are forgiven. With our sins covered, we have the certainty of being restored to you and you watching over us. Lord, thank you for your providence and for making our steps secure.
Please let us share our hope with others who do not know you. That they, too, will have a sure footing with Jesus, their Savior. Amen
