Psalm 90:1-2

Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, you are God.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We pray that you will be with us today in everything we do. You remind us that you have always been here; you were here before you created the world. So please give us the understanding to realize what this means—that since you made the universe from nothing, you have the power and authority over all we see. Thus, you give us our being and life; you sustain us while we are here on earth through your love and mercy.

In the beginning, you created us to live united with you, but with the fall into sin, our sinful natures created a division, separating us from you. Therefore, you sent your Son, our Savior, to save us from our sins and restore us to you. Jesus willingly went to the cross to pay the penalty for our sin—death. His death rescued us, and we, too, have the promise of everlasting life in his resurrection. We are restored to live with you. This gift of life through forgiveness comes to us through faith. Jesus sent us your Holy Spirit to begin faith in us to believe in Jesus’ life-saving work. He has removed our sins and has therefore restored us to you. Salvation is ours through faith in what Jesus finished.

We pray for a chance to share this good news with someone who does not know you. Give each of us the courage to overcome our fears and bless others with the good news of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life that awaits them; so that they too may dwell with you forever. Amen.

Trust in God, who has given you life. His plan of salvation to restore you to himself came at the cost of Jesus becoming part of the created order, giving his life for you. So now, you have forgiveness for all your sins. This gift of life is yours through faith in Jesus.
