Isaiah 44:22
I am blowing away your rebellious deeds like a cloud, and your sins like a mist. Return to me, because I am redeeming you.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank you for blowing away all our rebellion and sins. Our sins will prod and jab our memories, making us feel guilty about our actions. When we say, do, or think something that goes against our conscience, we hold onto the shame that comes along with it. Even worse, those sins divide us from you. We should be condemned for all we have done, what we do and will do.
However, you sent your Son to take our every sin into himself. Jesus came to our world to live a perfect life and was innocent; he never sinned. But he was taken to the cross to suffer our punishment; he allowed himself to become a curse for us to buy us back from our sins. This gift is for everyone, but it comes to us through faith in Jesus. The gift is ours; we receive it through the hands of faith. By Jesus’ saving work, you blew all our rebellious deeds and sins away to restore us to you.
Lord, we thank you for sending us your Son—to forgive our sins—and your Holy Spirit—to remove our sins and begin our faith. It is through your word and sacrament that faith began in us. So we ask that you grant us opportunities to share this forgiveness with those who do not know you so they, too, would come to faith and know their sins are blown away for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

If God blows away all the sins you have committed, then why hold on to them? In faith, lay all your sins at Jesus’ feet; there, you have forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.
