Isaiah 30:18
But the Lord is eager to be gracious to you. He waits on high to have mercy on you, for the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who long for him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for reminding us that you are eager to be gracious to us and wait on high with your mercy. So many around us misunderstand what this means. They reject your goodwill and compassion, then question why they, too, are not saved. “If God is a God of love, how is anyone condemned? Why do I have to believe?” We are reminded that you are a just God and do not let sins go unpunished. Fact: you sent your Son to take on the world’s sins; Jesus suffered the punishment of being separated from you and death in the place of every person. You punished him, and this gift of forgiveness and mercy is ours through faith in you. Isaiah wrote, “Blessed are all those who long for him.” By faith in knowing and trusting what Jesus has done for us, we are restored to you. Isaiah also wrote that you wait on high to have mercy for us. He writes this as if you are sitting on the edge of your seat, waiting for each person to believe in your Son so you can shower them with your mercy. Lord, thank you for giving us your word, your Son, and your Spirit. May we cling to you in complete faith. We also pray for chances to share this good news of your grace and mercy with others so that they will also know and trust your love and compassion and believe you are a just God who has already punished sin. Amen.

How quickly can we become bogged down with details and what-ifs about God’s love? Faith in its simplest is this: Christ has died for your sins, Christ has risen to defeat death for you, and Christ will come again for you to live for eternity in heaven with Him.
