Romans 8:16-17
The Spirit himself joins our spirit in testifying that we are God’s children. Now, if we are children, we are also heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, since we suffer with him, so that we may also be glorified with him.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for making us your children. As Paul wrote by the Holy Spirit’s inspiration, we are adopted heirs of eternal life. However, this was no easy task. While you created our first parents in your image as holy, sin tarnished us, and we were divided from you. So you sent Jesus to restore us to you—he willingly suffered the punishment of our sin on the cross, gave up his life, and rose from the dead. So through faith in Jesus, which the Holy Spirit started, we are forgiven and your children. Lord, thank you for your Spirit standing up for us and testifying that we believe in Jesus’ forgiveness. Jesus has covered us in his righteousness and has washed away our sins with his blood. While we may struggle here in this life, we are reminded that it is not in vain; and while we are still sinners in this life, you see us as saints redeemed by Jesus’ blood. You have given us the promise of our heavenly home. Amen.

Realize you are an adopted heir, not because of anything you have done but despite everything you have done.
