Colossians 1:11-14

You are being strengthened with all power because of his glorious might working in you. Then you will have complete endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. The Father rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for restoring us to you. We bring only our sins into the equation, and nothing in us should make us worthy of your grace and mercy. It is only by your love that you have redeemed us. When our first parents fell into sin, sin’s darkness covered the earth. Moreover, sin makes us only want to run from you—to separate ourselves far from you. But in your power and wisdom, you sent your Son here to become like us so we would not fear you; however, many hated Jesus. Out of love for people, Jesus took our punishment to the cross; he suffered for all the world’s sins; so that whoever would believe in him they would have everlasting life. Jesus was the light of the world, which came to us to show us the path back to you. Through Jesus, you rescued us from sin’s darkness and then sent us your Spirit so that we can believe in your salvation. So through faith, you restore all believers to your kingdom and to be heirs and saints in heaven. Lord, let us not be alone in your restoration, but let us share the good news of your forgiveness with someone who does not know you. So that they, too, will be rescued into the light and receive a crown of glory in heaven’s inheritance. Amen.
